The beating of stillness

Description of the Work of Art

This installation is a tribute to the fluid movement evoked by nature, which represents a gift that takes us back to the internal beat, the only movement that we should look after. Musical elements such as the drumming made from the heartbeats of a mother and her baby, the sounds of pyrotechnic fires and the syllable "MA" -which in Kundalini yoga represents the mantra that evokes the sacred mother energy- invite us to stop and feel that inside of us there is a heart beating. As we move toward the monitors, the static and soundless landscapes come into life. The atmospheres particular to each scenery become perceptible: the abdominal movement of the breath, the flight of a bird, the stream of a waterfall and the ambient sounds. Everything is set to remind us that within mindful silences, change takes shape, and that in the midst of stillness, we transform. As Saramago would say: "... we should never feel safe about what we think we are because, at that moment, it could very well happen that we are already a different one" [1].
